Brasov city is located at 160KM far from Bucharest, Romania's capital, in the middle of the country being surrounded like a halo by the Carpathians!

The city has a temperate continental climate with cold and relatively wet weather in the mountains. The summer nights in Brasov could be a little chilly.

Brasov is an important cultural and tourist center as well as an industrial, business and educational one. There is a governmental university -Transylvania University and a few private ones, a County Library with 5 branches and other cultural institutions like musical ones, theatres and so on.

Brasov's natural tourist potential is closely connected with its relief since the nearest Eastern and Southern Carpathians are able to satisfy the tastes and desires of all tourists, who are longing to practice either winter sports or summer sports. Three important resorts (Poiana Brasov, Predeal, Sinaia) offer tourists a wide range of winter and summer sports like skiing, snowboarding, driving snowmobiles, swimming, climbing, tennis…
Owing to a great number of hotels, chalets and villas, restaurants, and clubs, your stay in Brasov will be enjoyable and comfortable.
Being an old medieval city, Brasov gives you the opportunity to visit a lot of old historical monuments and museums. Main historical objects that attracts the visitors are: The White and Black Towers and Bastions of the old 15th c.; the St. Bartholomew Church, early Gothic (13th c.); the Black Church, Gothic, built over 1385-1476, now harboring a vast collection of oriental rugs; the Council House, 14th-18th c. today a museum; the Schei district with Saint Nicholas Church, the first School in Romanian Language and the Ecaterina Gate.
Juni Celebration is an interesting attraction for the tourists who are in Brasov on the first Sunday after the Orthodox Easter. The Juni, who are young people dressed in traditional costumes, march on the horses and then enter into a mace throwing competition.
For a week in August, Brasov becomes the European Capital of pop music in “Piata Sfatului” where the International Music Festival “Cerbul de Aur” takes place.
Poiana Brasov is Romania's most complex winter sports resort as well as an important international tourist centre; it boasts 12 ski runs of various degrees in difficulty (an olympic run, three downhill and giant slalom runs, one special slalom run, two jumps, etc.), sports grounds (for tennis, mini-golf, handball, basketball), an artificial lake, rope chair, ski-lift, indoor pools, saunas, medical gyms, discos, bars and restaurants, etc.
Bran Castel
Situated at 30 Km far from Brasov, between the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains, Bran Castle is an important national monument and landmark of the Romanian tourism, due to not only beauty of the Castle and landscape but also to the legend of Count Dracula.
Predeal, located some 25 km far from Brasov on the way to Bucharest is also a popular resort. In winter, skiing is the main attraction of the tourists here. In summer thousands of visitors come together here, as Predeal is a good starting place for spectacular trips on the mountains around Brasov.
Fagaras, also a medieval city, was unfortunately mostly destroyed during the communist ruling, and it is still situated around the old citadel of the city.
As a tourist destination we recommend it as a starting place on backpacking trips on Fagaras mountains, where you can climb the tallest peaks in Romania (Moldoveanu - 2543 m, and Negoiu - 2535 m). The mountains offer you some great spectacular views with largemountain lakes and waterfall.
